Where software engineers actually get sponsored
Most people search for sponsored work one country at a time, and every other visa page on this site is organised the same way. This one turns it around. The country chart above counts software engineer and software developer jobs with visa sponsorship only, and they are spread across more than fifty countries — a far wider field than any single destination search shows you, and the more useful view if what you want is software engineer jobs abroad rather than a job in one particular place.
The United States holds more than half of them, which is no surprise: it is the largest market for the role, and sponsoring engineers on an H-1B is routine for the employers there. The depth beyond it is less expected. India and the United Kingdom come next, then Canada, then a band of European and Asian markets — Germany, Ireland, Singapore, Israel, the Netherlands. Most of the European roles run on the UK Skilled Worker visa or the EU Blue Card, neither of which has the annual lottery that stands in front of an H-1B, and many come with relocation support attached. Every country with its own page links through from the chart.
Sponsorship goes to experience — and where the entry-level roles are
The honest pattern in this data is that sponsorship follows seniority. About two-thirds of the roles on this page are advertised at senior, staff or principal level, and only around one in fifteen is open at entry level. That is not a quirk of which employers we index: sponsoring someone costs an employer money and months, and it is far easier to justify for an engineer who is productive from the first week.
It does not mean entry-level software engineer visa sponsorship does not exist — it means it is concentrated, mostly in graduate programmes at large employers. If you are early in your career, look for those deliberately rather than reading every listing, and treat each genuine junior role as the rarer find it is. Upload your CV and every role here is scored against your experience, so you can see which ones you are actually in range for before you apply.
Common questions
It means the employer is willing to act as your sponsor so you can legally take the job as a foreign national — handling the work visa paperwork, and in most cases paying the associated fees. Without it, an employer can only hire candidates who already hold the right to work in the country where the job is based.
Every listing on this page was flagged by JobGlance's detection pipeline, which reads the full job description for explicit sponsorship language — including relocation assistance and relocation packages, which usually accompany a sponsored move. Listings are re-checked continuously and expired roles are removed within 24 hours.
Usually not. Roles that offer sponsorship are specifically open to candidates applying from abroad — that is the point of sponsoring. Some employers do prefer candidates who can attend interviews in person, which the job description will normally say.
Yes. Browsing and applying is free, with no card required. A free JobGlance account additionally scores every role against your CV and ranks your search results by fit, so you can see which ones you are genuinely competitive for before you spend time applying.
Daily. New listings are ingested each evening and roles that have closed are removed within 24 hours, so what you see here reflects openings that were live today rather than a stale archive.
Some do, but they are a small share — roughly one role in fifteen on this page is advertised at entry level, against about two-thirds at senior level or above. The entry-level roles that exist are concentrated in graduate programmes at large employers, so they are worth searching for specifically rather than hoping to come across.
The United States by a wide margin, followed by India and the United Kingdom. The chart at the top of this page shows live totals for the leading countries, recalculated daily, and links through to the destination pages where one exists.
